From 5th to 8th of july 2017 DER BERLINER MODE SALON opens its doors for the sixth time in the historical center of Berlin. Time for a review and a preview of the successful cultural format.

When they talked about DER BERLINER MODE SALON for the first time three years ago, the enthusiasm and hope was huge that something is changing in the German fashion industry. A new fresh wind is coming up and the Berlin Fashion Week comes to new strength again. All expectations should not be disappointed. DER BERLINER MODE SALON is now opening its doors at the Kronprinzenpalais during the Berlin Fashion Week for the sixth time.

The main task and the reason for the initiative "DER BERLINER MODE SALON" was to promote the national as well as the international awareness for fashion design from Germany in order to establish a new challenging and self-confident understanding of German fashion. Fashion made in Germany is meant to be recognized worldwide and taken seriously. The potential of newcomer designers must be recognized internationally and the country has to present his fashion potential more confidently to the world. At the Salon events, a curated cross-section of the most relevant designers from Germany will be presented to professionals, buyers and the press. Christiane Arp, Vogue Germany editor-in-chif and Marcus Kurz, owner of the Berlin based agency "Nowadays", want to set a positive sign of the creative and economic importance of German Fashion Design.

More than 40 well-known labels have been presenting their collections within the DBMS. They proved how expressive, changeable and relevant German fashion design can be. More than 1000 relevants of the industries from all cities visited the event in the last years. DER BERLINER MODE SALON is regarded as the must-visit date for the Berlin Fashion Week and also manages to bring the international audience to Berlin.

DBMS is also presented in other countries. On 20th of September 2015, for example, Christiane Arp and Marcus Kurz invited a selection of important guests to Paris to bring together the commercial business, fashion and designers. More than 25 designers presented their key pieces in the context of a group exhibition to Karl Lagerfeld, Justin O'shea or Suzy Menkes. The response was more than positive from both, the audience and the designers.

For the first time, there will also be an exclusive industry talk within the framework of DER BERLINER MODE SALON, which will be initiated together with the TextilWirtschaft. The topic "New Luxury Retail” will be discussed – How international pioneering retailers are developing their assortments, which brands make the difference and the potential of new and unused newcomer labels. Important business leaders in this genre will be available to answer questions about the future of Berlin and German fashion in the international market and to provide tips and information to the industry.

The curated group exhibition on Friday, July 7, 2017, the highlight of DER BERLINER MODE SALON, has been staged by the renowned brands and upcoming designers from Germany, since the beginning of this event they show Key-Pieces and Highlight creations. With this event the DBMS is promoting the development of a new public awareness for fashion design from Germany. DBMS is also committed to establishing German designers in national and international retailing. For example, young brand creations were selected to sell at KaDeWe Berlin, Uzwei in Hamburg, LuisaViaRoma.com or Joyce Hong Kong and Browns London.

This year, among others, VANESSA SCHINDLER sponsored by Mercedes-Benz and ELLE, also ANTONIA GOY, MARINA HOERMANSEDER, RIANNA + NINA and WILLIAM FAN will be presenting their Spring/Summer 2018 collections. RIANNA + NINA and ANTONIA GOY aresupported by the Senate Administration for Business, energy and operations.

As in previous years, the VOGUE Salon, the young generation promotion initiative of the German Vogue , will take place parallel to the DBMS group exhibition on the second floor of the Kronprinzenpalais. 2011, the idea of ​​promoting German design began with the VOGUE Salon, which entrance is just exclusively available for exclusive buyers or press. Vogue editor-in-chief Christiane Arp, co-initiator of DER BERLINER MODE SALON, presents seasonally selected german design talents, which are explicitly promoted by the Vogue for a longer period. Everything with the purpose of promoting German fashion design and young talents decisively. The protectors of the VOGUE Salon from the first period, are still being observed. It creates a friendly business relationship, whereby the Vogue always supports their proteges with advice and action.

The closing of the Berlin Fashion Week will take place in the KaDeWe, where individual creations from selected designers will be presented in cooperation with the Vogue and DER BERLINER MODE SALON.
