Between January 22 and 24, Highsnobiety will launch a digital-first landmark experiential project, with Covid-compliant physical extensions that will revitalise and champion contemporary fashion, and culture in Berlin. Introducing BERLIN, BERLIN a dedicated content hub on highsnobiety.com which tells a story about the city’s relevant cross-genre lifestyle players in the most unified way.
With its digital-first format BERLIN, BERLIN and in cooperation with the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises, and as part of Berlin Fashion Week, Highsnobiety illuminates the space in which fashion, music, art, and design meet and express themselves in the form of contemporary clothing and its progressive, visual communication. Selected contributions will be interpreted via augmented reality and launched into the cityscape, as well as into the safe spaces of everyone’s homes. For BERLIN, BERLIN, Highsnobiety utilizes its own media channels to put the city and its creative scene in the spotlight of a global stage.
BERLIN, AUGMENTED BERLIN
An immersive group exhibition with AR art. Visitors are invited to use a smartphone or tablet to place the eight sculptures by Berlin artists in public spaces or within their own four walls. In this manner, visitors are able to experience art on the border between the real and the virtual world and refashion their own immediate environment.

In its interdisciplinary program, the Reference Festival addresses the issues of our time - the status quo as well as the future of the fashion and creative industries in particular. The festival is simultaneously aimed at industry and consumers. From January 21 to 23, 5 performances by the most relevant cross-format artists will be broadcasted from the Zeiss Planetarium to the Reference Realities virtual platform. The Reference Space in Schöneberg will turn into a setting for the showcase and an online experience for a global audience. This creates a common context from the work of artists, designers and collectors with varying approaches. The total of 15 activations also include a runway show and a moving installation in a public space.
As part of this edition of the festival, Reference Studios is launching a prize for up-and-coming designers in partnership with Slam Jam. Slam Jam acts as an incubator, while Reference Studios is primarily dedicated to press work. 202030 - The Berlin Fashion Summit is designed to be(come) a cross-disciplinary platform, where avant-garde creatives and critical grassroot protagonists meet industry stakeholders to work together. The challenge is to connect and find solutions for the needs of diverse fashion industries, consumer cultures, innovation-driven sustainability, and the tech movement.
By involving experts from different disciplines, the 202030 - The Berlin Fashion Summit aims to stimulate a visionary, creative and encouraging dialogue. Through a multi-staged process, we aim to bridge existing innovations with the industry and envision concrete tangible connections and solutions for a more sustainable future of fashion.
202030 - The Berlin Fashion Summit is organized by studio MM04 in cooperation with Sqetch and the Beneficial Design Institute.
The SUMMIT serves as the main public part and opens up the dialogue to a broader audience. Each summit day will highlight one of the preceding topics #1 fashion culture, #2 fashion economy and #3 fashion product. Individual workshop participants will present the outcomes of the Pop Up Think Tank. Furthermore, inspirational keynotes will be held, followed by demonstrations and presentations of best practises. A closing panel will wrap up the insights of each day and provoke progressive solutions and guidelines for future operations of the fashion industry.

Achieving circularity and transparency from donated clothes
tHERAPY Recycle and Exorcise meets Textilhafen's Material Pool from the Berliner Stadtmission One of the main issues for upcycling designers is the sourcing of materials. More and more second hand and vintage clothes, are becoming part of the same fashion consumption system which is being questioned. The matter today for upcycling designers is not only to have access to enough materials with certain qualities and quality. But also that the circulation and commercialization of those materials be already transparent and be itself part of the positive impact upcycling designers want to create.
