Alber Elbaz is known as Creative Director for Lanvin. For the summer season he is the patron of the Designer for Tomorrow Award and mentor of young creative designer.

Since 2009 the „Designer for Tomorrow“ Award take place for Berlin Fashion Week. The Award is known as platform for creativity and should support the visibility of young designers in the national and international market. 

Each year a new patron of established fashion houses supports the chooses young designers with their work, their collection and all business issues. After Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, Zac Posen this season Alber Elbaz will look after the nominees.  

Elbaz was for about 14 years the creative director of the fashion house Lanvin and helped the brand to Elbaz to get some new fresh air into the collections. Thanks to Alber Elbaz Lanvin is one of the most popular high fashion brand world wide. The designer is born in Casablanca and grows up in Tel Aviv, were he also finished his studies. After his studies he went to New York and was 17 years long the right hand of designer Geoffrey Beene. After he worked as chief designer at Guy Laroche, he changed to Yves Saint Laurent and developed the Rive-Gauche collection. 

For this summer season he will help his protege of the Designers of Tomorrow Award with the orientation at the fashion business.  They should test their borders and self-confident  follow their dreams. Important: They should preserve their own style and call themselves all the time in to question. Mistakes and creativity are inseparable says Alber Elbaz – you should follow your heart.

Alber Elbaz encounter the development of the fashion business alarming, because creativity is no longer the main topic its more about to produce as fast and as much as possible. The more important is it, to teach the young designers that they should take their time to realize their dreams. „For me it is very alarming, that today young are looking for the fast success.“, says Elbaz, „Success needs time and you should do the second step before the first.“
