Since 2007, Berlin Fashion Week attracts dstributors, buyers, and industry visitors, visionaries and enrepreneurs twice a year. It combines the pioneering exhibitions and international fair trades in the capital city. The Berlin-based leading exhibitions Premium Exhibitions, Panorama Berlin, MBFW, Bright Trade Show, Show & Order, Selvedge Run, Seek and Der Berliner Salon are offering a wide variety of collections and more, which makes a visit a must for fashion enthusiasts.
For those, who are interested in womens- and menswear, the following trade fairs are a must. Here is an overview of changes and new highlights you can expect from the already known formats at Berlin Fashion Week:

PREMIUM is an international business platform for demaning, contemporary fashion, which doesn’t just attract more and more visitors every year but continues to grow steadily since 2003. This July, the visitors can look forward once again, to hand picked and according tot he high-quality standards selected collections. Future trends of the contemporary womens- and menswear section are presented and defined at PREMIUM. Over 1.000 brands and more than 1.800 collections, framed by networking and business opportunities, plus other B2B-services.

The successful kick-off of the new concept in the past January-edition will be continued this summer: for the second time, the trade fair welcomes its visitors at Kühlhaus (located at STATION-Berlin). More than 200 fashion, shoe, accessories, and jewellery collections, plus trends from the area of beauty products, interior design, books and art will be presented on six floors in a Look & Feel of a concept store in July. The gallery-like designed floors are names according different fashion metropolises. Buyers can get informed and inspired for three whole days.
“Connecting Communities” is the theme of the innovative trade fair with new strategies. This year, it’s about how it’s necessary to connect the different areas of the fashion industry with each other and connecting them at Panorama. More than 800 brands have taken it upon themselves to present under this theme and will present in over ten halls with around 45.000 square metres, their products of the formal- and casualwear, contemporary, denim, accessories, shoes, sustainable fashion and plus size areas. A strong focal point is also the lifestyle area. Additionally, there’ll be more room for intelligent trade solutions.
Catering concepts and tech-retail-solutions will be presented by berlin-based startups and other providers.

This July, the theme of the trade fair for high quality menswear and handcrafted goods is “The Essence”. The summer show takes places at Palais am Funkturm and shaped by a Japanese focus, plus the principle of durability instead of “almost fashion”. The new presentation location is still part of the exhibition grounds of City West and offers more space, logistically improved conditions and a more attractive exterior than the previous location. The close cooperation with Panorama continues. Strong, established labels, plus newcomers will present. Brands, such as Burgus Plus, Fine Creek Leathers or Vasco will be at the summer-edition for the first time.
Around 100 fashion and lifestyle brands for children will present their spring/summer 2019 collections at Playtime in July. Playtime turns one this year and invites its visitors for the third time already, to inform themselves about the latest baby, children, and youth fashion trends.
This year’s theme is “goodwill” and right according that, the focus is put on conscious an ethnical fashion, plus natural material and fair production processes Around 40 new exhibitors are expected. As part of business talks and networking events, the visitors also have the option to talk and connect to each other or designers and to get informed. A special highlights of Playtime Berlin are for example the business talk “Luna-Talk: Shopping Erlebnis 4.0” and the Pop-Up store of the online magazine Little Years.
Fashion as an attitude, statement and lifestyle – proceeded within the daily life – is what visitors will find at the Berlin street and casual wear trade fairs. We have gathered information on what else will be seen in July:

The summer edition of BRIGHT combines the international skateboarding community, in July 2018. Twice a year, Berlin turns into the central hub for fashion and sports enthusiasts. BRIGHT manages to combines both fields of interests and melt them into one lifestyle.
Additionally, to the B2B-area known from previous years, this summer, the fair will hold a B2C-area, which will connect skateboarding even closer to the audience. The focus isn’t just fashion, but also the hardware which moved the skateboard towards the centre of attention. Selected brands, plus established international exhibitors and newcomer will offer the community a colourful mix of the different areas and stand for a diverse selection.
SEEK has for the first time, a theme: Destination – Berlin as a Destination, SEEK as a Destination. According to this theme, SEEK, which is understood as the voice of street culture, will be a fashion hotspot for everyone, who defines themselves by individuality and constant reinvention, for the second time this year. The trade fair, which is shaped by sub cultures, music and art put the focus on autonomy, anti-trend segments, tradition and heritage. The international community will not only see latest collections but will also experience a new and different lifestyle at the trade fair: restaurants, a club, a ship with a pool, and the exterior will offer enough chances to network and to get in touch with like-minded people.

One of the core issues of the Berlin fashion scene is sustainability and sustainable fashion. This year, friend of sustainable, fair, and ethical fashion can look forward to various highlights and innovations in the green corner! The second edition of the FASHIONSUSTAIN-conference and the associated Thinkathon takes place at Kraftwerk Berlin again, along with the trade fair duo Greenshowroom and Ethical Fashin Show and the conference #FASHIONTECH. Once more, the location will turn into an international platform for innovations and experts of the industry will gather. Footwear, shoes, and sneakers are in focus at the second FASHIONSUSTAIN.

The news at the sustainable trade fairs are a stronger emphasized segmentation to provide a better overview within the separate product areas. The categories are moderncasual, urbanvibe, craft and Greenshowroom. Complete outfits, including shoes and accessories will be presented. For the first time, there’ll also be a beauty section to give sustainable and fairly produced care and styling products a platform. The Knowledge Lounge allows interested visitors to connect with each other, other networks, NGOs and initiatives. For the first time, there’ll be a joint fashion show by Ethical Fashion Show and Greenshowroom, as part of MBFW.
At the third of July, the Nightshift with longer opening hours and a Get-Together. Thanks to the support of Textilwirtschaft and Sportswear International, football enthusiasts can watch the live stream of the round of 16 game. The truly big changes for the sustainable section of Berlin Fashion Week are announced for the next year, when Messe Frankfurt melts the two trade fairs Greenshowroom and Ethical Fashion Show to one. So for the last time, they will take place separately from 3rd until 5th of July under the known names. In the future, it’ll be called Neonyt. Thimo Schwenzfeier of Messe Frankfurt will be the Show Director of Neonyt, Magdalena Schaffrin will stay Creative Director.

The audience can look forward to an extensive portfolio of wearable designs at FashionTech. On the third of July, the winner of the Telekom Fashion Fusion Award will be awarded and will present their prototypes. The participants of the conference on the 4th of July can expect keynotes held by leading experts and best cases from the fashion and tech industry. 39 speakers, including Thomas Schulz, Senior U.S. correspondent and author of the bestseller “What Google really wants”, and Whitney Bromberg Hawkings CEO & Co-Founder of Flowerbx share their experience and knowledge in keynotes about technologic innovations within the fashion industry and leading visions for the future.
